Reindeer Antlers

Materials For Each Child:
2 sheets of 9" x 12" tagboard
1 strip of construction paper, 1" x 18"
stapler to share
brown or red tempera paint
paintbrush, ruler, and scissors

Class Preparations:
Organize the children to work in pairs, taking turns to paint each other's hands.

Directions:
1. Have a friend paint the palm of your hand.
Spread your fingers out, then place your hand firmly on a sheet of tagboard. Press on the back of one hand with your other hand. Lift off carefully and allow to dry. Wash your hand.
2. Repeat with your other hand.
3. Cut around the handprints. Leave a wide border and a wide tab about 2" long at the bottom of each print.
4. Staple the tab of each print to the construction-paper strip.
5. Wrap the strip around your head; then cut the ends and staple to make a headband.

Glitter-Ball Tree Decorations

Materials For Each Child:
1 piece of string, 6" long
newspaper
flour and water paste
scraps of colored paper, gift wrap, or magazines
tempera paint and paintbrush
making tape
glitter and glue

Class Preparations:
Make up flour and water paste for the class

Directions:
1. Crumple a sheet of newspaper into a ball about the size of a tennis ball.
2. Wrap tape around the ball to keep it in shape. Tape on a loop of string.
3. Tear more newspaper into strips. Spread paste on each strip and stick on the ball. Overlap the strips until the ball is covered. Allow to dry.
4. Decorate the ball either by painting it or by gluing on scraps of torn paper. Dot with glue and sprinkle on glitter.

Glass Candle Holder

Materials For Each Child:
1 glass jar
1 night light
star stickers
indelible markers
Newspaper and tape

Directions:
1. Use indelible markers to draw a design on your glass jar.
2. Position star stickers around the jar.
3. Place a night light inside.
4. Take the candle holder home, carefully wrap the jar in several sheets of newspaper and secure with tape.
